Welcome to the Hupper Island Website

MarshallPointAtDusk

Marshall Point Lighthouse at Dusk. Late September.

September is a time of transition at the Port and the Island.

There is a duality in this place where Summer People start to hold sway in June and real life begins for the Local population in October

Oh, the odd diehard shows to brave the cold now and then. And from time to time the Island hosts a year-round resident.  But in the main vacation is over, school  has

started and the harbinger of winter is beginning to dampen the desire of most to be rustic. Residual signs of Summer People still linger.  The Laura B. still has a

harbor cruise, but only on weekends. And parking still gets tight along the split-rail fence. But more cars belong to tradesmen and locals who move them in hours instead of days.

And the boats are still fighting for space at the Public Landing, but only until they are moved to storage to await next season. Soon there will be little concern as to when the tide is low or high. There will be enough space to retrieve a boat at any tide.

Low tide presents a challenge in summer.

But if you have a hankering to get a taste of the Island before next summer, you can check out the weather and the tides as well as the local news of the day from this website.  I would like to say that the site will have updated pictures throughout the Fall and Winter season.  I really would like to say that.  But I doubt that I’ll be here during winter.  If anyone does come and wants to submit some pictures I’ll be more than happy to post them.

We are providing a Public Access facility with this website to provide any Islanders or others who wish to post information, announcements, pictures or just about anything else. Kind of like providing a Right Of Way through the website. Just send the information to webmaster@hupperisland.com.  We will update the website as needed.
